Player prize money
Thanks to the partnership and support of new title sponsor, Gainbridge, the 2022 Billie Jean King Cup Finals offered record payments of $11.4 million for nations and players as part of the ITF’s Advantage All programme to drive value for the women’s game. This included an unprecedented Player Prize Money (PPM) purse of $8 million, which was $1.2 million more than last year’s $6.8 million and equivalent to the levels of player prize money awarded to the men for the 2022 Davis Cup by Rakuten Finals.
To determine prize money distribution for each round of the women’s World Cup of Tennis, initially the same PPM formula was applied as used for the Davis Cup Finals which awards significantly higher prize money for teams in the final knockout stage.
Following consultation, the captains, players and the teams voted for a different distribution model to the men. The distribution of 2022 Billie Jean King Cup Finals Player Prize Money has therefore been adjusted round by round. Teams will earn the same prize money in 2022 for participating in the group stage as last year and a significant increase in winnings for teams reaching the knockout stage, within the record total purse.
This means:
- The world champions received $2,000,000 (record)
- The runners-up received $1,200,000 (record)
- The semi-finalists received $800,000 (record)
- Group stage teams received $400,000
