Czechs name team for latest Billie Jean King Cup title tilt

World No. 14 Barbora Krejcikova and No. 22 Karolina Pliskova have been entrusted to lead the line for Czech Republic at the 2022 Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Finals in Glasgow.

Krejickova and Pliskova will be joined by world No. 51 Katerina Siniakova and No. 91 Marketa Vondrousova in a typically solid Czech team - one that must be increasingly difficult to pick for captain Petr Pala, given the conveyor belt of talented youngsters the nation continues to produce.

The Czechs, who recorded the most recent of their 11 triumphs in the women's world cup of tennis with a 3-0 victory over USA in 2018, face a repeat of that final when they take on a formidable American side containing four Top 20 players on Friday 11 November.

That clash, which may well decide who proceeds to the semi-finals, follows their opening Group D encounter with Poland on 9 November.
