2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu is set to contest her first competition tie for more than three-and-a-half years after being included in Canada’s squad for November’s Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Finals in Glasgow.

Andreescu has not featured for Canada in Billie Jean King Cup since a World Group II showdown with Netherlands in February 2019 but will take her place alongside Leylah Fernandez in what amounts to a powerful Canadian one-two.

Fernandez and Andreescu are joined by Gabriela Dabrowski, Rebecca Marino and Carol Zhao as Canada bid to top the podium in the women’s world cup of tennis for the first time in their history.

Canada face Italy in their opening Group Stage clash on Thursday 10 November before drawing swords with 2021 runners-up Switzerland a day later. The top team from each of the four groups will advance to the semi-finals.
