The draws for the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Finals and Play-offs will take place at the International Tennis Federation offices in London at 12:00 BST (11:00 GMT) on Tuesday 30 April
The Finals draw will feature 12 nations competing in a knockout format. The four seeded nations will receive a bye into the quarter-finals. The eight unseeded nations will compete in opening round ties (12-14 November) with the winning teams joining the four seeded nations in the quarter-finals (15-17 November). The semi-finals will take place on 18-19 November, with the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup final on Wednesday 20 November.
As 2023 world champions, Canada are seeded No. 1, while last year’s runners-up Italy are seeded No. 2. The remaining seeded nations are the two other highest-ranked nations according to this month’s Billie Jean King Cup nations rankings: Czechia, seeded No. 3, and Australia, seeded No. 4.
The Play-offs draw will feature 16 teams, with eight seeded nations and eight unseeded nations, based on the current Billie Jean King Cup nations rankings. The unseeded nations will be drawn one-by-one against the seeded nations.
Play-off ties will take place on a home-and-away basis on either Friday 15-Saturday 16 November or Saturday 16-Sunday 17 November. Host nations will have choice of which dates to play. Winning nations in the Play-offs will advance to the Qualifiers in 2025, while losing nations will compete in regional Group I events in 2025.
