Spain were handed a tough opening round clash against Iga Swiatek's Poland; Germany have been drawn against Great Britain; USA are to face Slovakia; and Japan to take on Romania in other round one ties

The draw for the new-look 2024 Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Finals has thrown up some intriguing ties, with hosts Spain to play a Polish team that could feature world No. 1 Swiatek when the Finals take place in Seville at the end of the season.
 
The Finals will feature 12 nations competing in a knockout format at La Cartuja Stadium in Seville on 12-20 November. As well as the mouthwatering clash between Spain and Poland, fans can look forward to Germany against Great Britain, Slovakia taking on 18-time champions USA, and Japan v Romania in round one.
 
The four seeded nations begin in the quarter-finals, with defending champions Canada awaiting the winners of Germany and Great Britain and Australia to take on either Slovakia or USA. In the bottom half, Czechia will play the winners of Spain and Poland, and Italy will face either Japan or Romania.
 
The opening round of ties will take place from Tuesday 12-Thursday 14 November, followed by the quarter-finals on Friday 15-Sunday 17 November. The semi-finals will take place on Monday 18-Tuesday 19 November, with the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup final on Wednesday 20 November.  

The schedule for the Finals will be confirmed in the coming days, with tickets set to go on sale next week.
The 2024 Billie Jean King Cup Play-offs draw also took place on Tuesday, with eight ties scheduled to take place on a home-and-away basis on either 15-16 November or 16-17 November. Home nations will have choice of which dates to play.
 
Winning nations in the Play-offs will advance to the Qualifiers in 2025, while losing nations will compete in regional Group I events in 2025.
